Process

How certification works

Choose a course and date

Attend the class in West Covina

Hands-on skills on manikins and AED trainers with an AHA instructor. Small groups, usually 6 or fewer.

Skills check and written test

Completed in the same session. Most students pass the first time.

AHA eCard by email, same day

Your official card is issued the day you finish. Nothing to pick up, nothing in the mail.

Most BLS classes finish in about 3 hours. Larger groups can run closer to 4.

Arrive 5 to 10 minutes early. More than 15 minutes late counts as a missed class, because the AHA requires full attendance to certify.

Book several people at once, on our schedule or at your site. We send the roster and copies of every eCard to one coordinator, and we invoice the organization rather than each student.

Questions

Common questions

Is this the same as a Red Cross card?: No. These are American Heart Association courses and cards. Most hospitals and nursing programs ask for AHA specifically. If your employer accepts either, both are fine.
What do I need to bring?: A photo ID. The student manual is included in the fee. Wear something you can kneel in.
What if I do not pass the test?: Most students pass the first time. If you do not, you get one free retest within 30 days. Call us and we will schedule it.
How fast do I get the card?: The same day. The AHA emails your eCard after the instructor closes the class, usually within a few hours of finishing.
Is BLS the same as CPR for healthcare providers?: Yes. BLS Provider is the AHA course healthcare employers mean when they say CPR for healthcare providers.
Do you offer renewals?: Yes. Renewal is the same class and the same fee. Bring your current or expired card if you have it.
Can I reschedule or cancel?: Reschedule free with 24 hours notice, as many times as you need. Inside 24 hours we will still move you once for free; after that it is $25. Cancel more than 48 hours before class for a full refund to your card. Inside 48 hours you get a credit for any class within 90 days.
What if I miss my class?: A no-call, no-show forfeits the seat and is not refundable, because the room and instructor are already paid for. Contact us within 30 days and we will re-seat you once at half price.
Is there a minimum age?: Yes, 13. Students under 18 are welcome with a parent's permission.
